About Sebago Lake

Sebago spans ~30,500 acres with ~105 miles of shoreline, a mean depth around 107 feet, and a maximum depth measured near 316 feet (some local sources list ~307 ft). Its waters are exceptionally clear (average transparency ~10.5 m / 34+ ft), and the lake is bordered by the towns of Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish, and Windham, with seasonal Frye Island in the middle. The lake’s primary outflow is the Presumpscot River.

Connected via the Songo River and the historic hand-operated Songo Lock to Brandy Pond and Long Lake, Sebago forms the heart of Maine’s “Lakes Region.” Lake levels are actively managed at the outlet (Eel Weir Dam) on the Presumpscot; check current levels when planning shoulder-season boating. Sebago Lake is also the primary drinking-water source for ~219,000 people in 11 municipalities.
