About Barren River Lake

Barren River Lake was created in 1964 when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built the Barren River Dam for flood control and recreation. Stretching across 10,000 acres of water with 141 miles of shoreline, the lake has become one of Kentucky’s most versatile and visited water destinations.
