About Tipton Lakes
Tipton Lakes is a private, residential lake system located on the west side of Columbus in Bartholomew County, Indiana. The community was conceived in the late 1960s when the J. Irwin Miller family acquired approximately 1,200 acres of land to create a high-quality living environment, taking advantage of existing valleys and creek corridors. In the early 1980s, three man-made lakes—East Lake, North Lake, and West Lake—were constructed, connected by two canals and surrounded by a variety of neighborhoods, parks, and open spaces within the Tipton Lakes Community Association (TLCA) master plan.
The lake system is designed primarily for residential recreation, with shorelines lined by private homes, neighborhood parks, and common areas rather than public campgrounds.
