About Lay Lake

Stretching over 12,000 acres with 289 miles of shoreline, Lay Lake offers a balance of recreation, natural beauty, and history. It was created in 1914 by Alabama Power with the construction of the Lay Dam, making it one of the oldest hydroelectric reservoirs in the state.
